My superpower is

Connection.

We all exist in an intertwined web of connections, seeking to find a sense of belonging among an array of cultures. Being able to pull those strands together, being part of the culture and shaping it to create belonging for others, is the endgame; a superpower unlike any other.

You're going to use it...

What the world needs now is love, sweet love. Or, in the case of you and your superpower, what the world needs now is connection, sweet connection.

Of all our superpowers, this might be the one which is needed with the most immediacy. We’ve spent large parts of the last two years prioritising the safety of each other by staying home. The black border of our laptops has become the frame by which we view the world, and we’re eager to find ways to break that down, even amidst an ongoing pandemic.

Given our recent and ongoing focus on safety, health, wellbeing, and public services, it’s fitting the space which is most open to your superpower is public administration and safety.

We were founded in Wellington, we’re here today in the capital. We know the mechanics of government which drive public administration. We also know that connection is a superpower which brings together many of the others, particularly communication and teamwork.

So, take the opportunity that your superpower provides.

Afterall, we don't need another mountain, there are mountains and hillsides enough to climb, there are oceans and rivers enough to cross.

Connection is the only thing that there’s just too little of.
